Sexual Difficulties + Low Libido

Sexual-Difficulties.png

Many people experience sexual difficulties at some time in their lives.

Sometimes sex can be painful or mismatched sex drives can cause problems in a relationship. It also can be hard to find someone to discuss these issues with.

There are effective strategies to help reduce pelvic floor muscle overactivity which is a common cause of pain when something enters the vagina which can cause problems using tampons as well as with sexual intimacy. Many find a detailed explanation to understand how their body is responding, as well as practicing contracting and relaxing their pelvic floor, can be very helpful. Sometimes the use of vaginal dilators may be useful.

Premature ejaculation or difficulty sustaining an erection are common problems and there are many helpful strategies and medications.

Post-menopausal women experiencing low libido, referred to as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD), may find using a specialised testosterone gel for women helpful. Testosterone gel has not been available to Australian women until recently but it is now approved and available on prescription. Its use requires the supervision of an experienced medical practitioner.

We are happy to see people of all genders and sexuality for assessment and to provide treatment or referral as needed.
